Description: The State Theatre of Virginia

The Barter Theatre building was constructed in 1831 as a new location for Sinking Springs Presbyterian Church. It is a theatre of resilience.

The earliest theatrical event known to occur here was a production of the Virginian on January 14, 1876, the proceeds of which were used for building repairs. In 1890, the Sons of Temperance transferred the building's title to the Town of Abingdon , to be used as a town hall for the benefit of the citizenry.

Backcountry is an outdoor recreation and lodging group with 2 locations, Abingdon and Damascus, that offers 6 wilderness lodges, 6 tent sites, a group entertainment facility, and a cabin.  They also support activities in the Jefferson National Forest which borders the property in Damascus and with the Historic Whites Mill which borders the Abingdon property.

Description:

The farm is located on the banks of the Clinch River in Dungannon, Virginia.  It was home to several crops (watermelon, pumpkins, hay, tobacco) over the years.  The farm has belonged to the Gilliam family since the early 1900's and was passed down to Pat Gilliam Osborne in 1994.

     Presently, the farm has ten varieties of Lavender and plans have been made to add different varieties each year. All of the Lavender is grown organically.  They also grow eight varieties of rose scented geraniums.  Any herb that is grown at Scott County Lavender, will be a compliment to the lavender oil when it is distilled into essential oil and hydrosol.  The lavender is dried and distilled in the old tobacco barn.

Jessie Lea Campground/RV Park consists of 32 camper sites with full hook-up, including cable tv & dump station. The bathhouse and office, which includes a gift shop, are all newly constructed and handicap accessible. The North Forth of the Powell River calmly streams itself throughout the two acres of the campground, so you can enjoy fishing or relaxing. The campground is located conveniently in town with easy access to Big Stone Gap's historic attractions and greenbelt walking trail.

Description: High Country Horse Camp, LLC is an 8-acre horse camp that provides a full range of amenities including food service, stall rentals, showers, horse barns, electrical and water hookups for horse trailers.  They are located on the Mount Rogers recreation and national forest riding trails.  The camp has been in operation for 6 years.  Renovations are underway to upgrade the current facilities.
